A former mechanic, Tom has now joined the ranks of the American unemployed. In search of a job, any job at all, Tom tries to make ends meet, despite having his old friend Alex now leeching off him. Tom is obsessed with the girl of his dreams, Katie — which is problematic considering that she already has a boyfriend.
